Distinguished Senator Ikeje Israel Asogwa, the Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial Zone on Wednesday, 15th July 2026, received the Speaker of the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria, Enugu State Chapter Hon. (Amb.) Ugwu Fidelis Chukwudi and the Member representing Enugu North Senatorial Zone at the Nigerian Youth Parliament and Dean of the 6th Session of the Parliament, Hon. Asogwa Chinecherem Thomas in his office at the National Assembly.
The visit was consistent with the Senator's Youth-friendly orientation and in keeping with his youth inclusiveness promise during his election campaign. He appreciated the gesture of the young Parliamentarians for coming to show solidarity while assuring that his office is determined to change the narrative in Enugu North Senatorial Zone.
According to him, top of his priority is job creation interventions that would absorb hundreds of Enugu North Youths into the workforce of the State and the federation as well as increased Youth employment opportunities.
The Senator also endorsed the Enugu State Smart Kid Debate and Quiz Competitions organized by the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigerian Youths Parliament, Enugu State caucus. For him, the program succinctly captures the heart of the Smart School initiative of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah which according to him should be supported by anyone who wishes well for the next generation of Enugu citizens. The programme which envisions a sustained inter-school debates and Quiz Competitions among other Competitions for students of the Enugu Smart Green Schools, is a novel initiative to keep the students versed and always ready to compete globally.
The Speaker of the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria while addressing the Senator noted that the Senator's youth centered policies has justified the endorsement of the Assembly during his campaign.
The Assembly had earlier endorsed the Senator, citing his achievements in his previous public offices and his clear manifesto of unprecedented development projects.
On his part, Hon. Thomas, while congratulating the Senator, assured him of the continued support of Enugu North youths and urged him to keep to his promises as expectations of the youth and people of Enugu North are high at the moment.
