Enugu-born entrepreneur, popular and charismatic former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Enugu State chapter, Engr. Vita Abba OON has resigned from the party after years of service. In a heartfelt letter, Abba announces his decision to explore new paths.
In a resignation letter dated October 13, 2025, addressed to his ward chairman, Ede-Nta ward in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu and made available to Daily Sun read thus;
"After profound introspection and meticulous deliberation, I hereby tender my formal resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The PDP has been a cornerstone of my political odyssey, affording me the privilege of serving as the state Chairman (2007-2014), most recently, the flag bearer in the 2023 election for Member
Representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency and more.
“I remain eternally grateful for the trust bestowed upon me, the party's support, and the camaraderie extended by leaders and members at all echelons. However, I have come to realize that it’s time for me to explore new paths and contribute to the nation in different ways.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to you, the ward executives, all the party organs and members for your support, amity, and shared moments of service.”
Our reporter gathered that the news has sent shockwaves throughout the state's political landscape, with many awaiting Abba's next move.
Though the former PDP chieftain did not mention the party he is defecting to, some analysts are of the opinion that he may be moving to All Progressives Congress (APC), as there has been such political defection in the state in recent days.
Our reporter also gathered that the resignation of Engr. Abba is a big blow to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state as he has one of the pillars holding the party in the state for over two and half decades now.
