The National Vice-President, South-East Zone, Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Anigbo Clement Chukwudike, popularly known as AB Cowboy, has initiated a new platform aimed at fostering unity, interaction and professional bonding among actors across the five South-East states.
The initiative was demonstrated through the maiden Actors Guild of Nigeria South-East Patron’s Cup and Patron’s Night, held on October 3, 2026, in Enugu.
The programme brought together members of the guild from Enugu, Abia, Imo, Anambra and Ebonyi states for a football competition, seminar and award presentation.
Anigbo said the initiative was designed to bring actors from the five states together, promote friendship and allow members to interact, identify and familiarise themselves with one another beyond their individual state chapters.
According to him, the event provided an opportunity for actors across the zone to strengthen their relationship and collectively advance the interests of the guild.
The football competition, which was held at Ngwo Park, Uwani, Enugu, featured teams representing the five South-East states, with Anambra and Imo advancing to the final.
At the end of the keenly contested final, Anambra State emerged champions of the maiden South-East AGN Patron’s Cup.
Anigbo expressed satisfaction with the success of the event, announcing that the competition and other activities would become an annual programme under his leadership as National Vice-President of the South-East Zone.
The evening session, comprising a seminar and award presentation, was held at Oakland Hotel, Enugu, where one of the guild’s patrons, Arch. Bishop Onyekachi, was honoured with an award of recognition for his support and contributions to the guild.
Those who attended the event included the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Yakubu; National Chairman, Board of Trustees, Chief Emmanuel Oguguo; veteran actors Vitalis Ndubisi, Clemson Onyelu and Ofiafuluagu Mbaka; Chidinma and Chidiebere of the Anake Twins, as well as chairmen of AGN chapters from the five South-East states, among others.
Anigbo commended the national leadership of the guild for its support towards the programme, while also appreciating members across the zone for their impressive turnout and participation.
He said the success of the event demonstrated the willingness of actors in the South-East to work together, build stronger professional relationships and create platforms that would promote the growth and development of the entertainment industry in the region.
He expressed optimism that subsequent editions would attract greater participation and further strengthen the bond among members of the guild across the South-East.
