The Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu (Igwe Ogadagidi) has congratulated the Alara of Ilara, Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo on his appointment as the sixth Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU).
The University Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr Emmanuel Fanu, had in a press statement on Sunday disclosed that the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to Lagos State University, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Ogunsanwo, as the sixth Chancellor of the institution.
In his congratulatory message to the new Chancellor, Igwe Asadu, who is the immediate past Chairman, Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers described Ogunsanwo's appointment as "distinguished and meritorious."
Asadu said that Ogunsanwo's exceptional dedication to leadership, education and public service makes the appointment a well-deserved honour, and wished him great success.
"I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your appointment as the Chancellor of Lagos State University.
"Your distinguished career, commitment to academic excellence, and leadership experience make you exceptionally qualified for this role.
"I am confident that under your guidance, the University of Lagos will reach new heights of academic success and innovation, as I look forward to supporting your vision for the institution," he said.
Igwe Ogadagidi, who is also the traditional ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, and Member, Board of Trustees Council of Traditional Leaders of Africa (Nigeria Chapter), commended the Lagos State Governor, Sanwo-Olu for finding Ogunsanwo
worthy for the appointment, and urged the staff and management of LASU to give him their maximum support to take the university to the next level.
