A Philosophical Parliamentarian: Consistency in Altruism - Senator Engr. Osita Ngwu's Exemplary Leadership

The concept of a philosophical king was first introduced by Plato in his book "The Republic," written in 380 BCE, which describes a ruler with wisdom and the ability to make just decisions guided by reason and philosophy. In Plato's ideal society, this ruler possesses knowledge of eternal truths and has undergone rigorous education, enabling them to make decisions for the benefit of all citizens. Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas also discussed their idea of a virtuous ruler, emphasizing moral character, practical wisdom, and divine law.

In the same vein, a renowned American author, speaker, and leadership developer, John C. Maxwell, once averred that leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less. Stephen Covey, the author of "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People," which sold millions of copies, also opined that trust is the glue of life; it's the most essential ingredient in effective communication. Good leaders build products, but great leaders build culture. It is not all about giving energy; it's also about unleashing other people's energy. A leader is one who knows the way and shows the way; it's about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence. The very essence of leadership is that you have to have a vision, and leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality. A leader takes people where they want to go, but a great leader takes people where they don't necessarily want to go, but ought to.

Senator Osita Ngwu exemplifies the above qualities. He is a leader who is consistently humble, approachable, and available to his constituents, treating everyone as equals, regardless of class or status. Unlike many politicians who seem to disappear into thin air after winning elections, he remains committed to his constituents, maintaining an open-door policy and responding promptly to their concerns. His dedication to public service is truly admirable, and it's no wonder he's earned the respect and admiration of his people.

His presentations, contributions, debates, and articulations are fascinating, showcasing his philosophical depth in governance. Like the ancient Greek mythology king Midas, RG, as he is fondly called, has the Midas touch; everything he touches turns to gold - a golden fish that has no hiding place. His exploits in the National Assembly are never a fluke; he has carried out his responsibility as Minority Whip of the 10th Assembly effectively. He is a sagacious, astute politician who is endowed with capacity, a workaholic who delivers with surgical clinical precision, and I am confident he will excel in his new role as the Acting Chairman of the Senate Committee on Airforce.

I am looking forward to seeing the positive impact he will make in this new assignment. Senator Ositadimma Ngwu is a man of candour who exudes undeniable wisdom; he is highly cerebral and undoubtedly very pragmatic. The love he enjoys in Enugu West remains unquantifiable. He is indeed consistent in altruism.

Before and after becoming a senator, humility and integrity have defined him. Those who know his political history will attest to the fact that he never gets desperate; he sees leadership from the prism of service, and that has moulded his political philosophy. He is a man of his word, and his actions reflect his commitment to public service. He is always in touch with his constituents, attending to their challenges with passion and commitment, and taking up their cases as if his life depends on it.

Enugu West Federal Constituency, made up of five local government areas, attests to the fact that the mandate they gave to Engr. Osita Ngwu is worth it, as he has significantly touched their lives in less than three years in office. Every ward in Enugu West Senatorial Zone has one or more federal projects attracted to them by this amiable senator; they feel the positive impact of his representation, with scholarships, overseas-sponsored studies, and sporting activities to keep the youths gainfully engaged, to mention just a few. The number of bills he has equally sponsored are top notch

He is a servant leader making a difference, and his constituency is a beacon of hope. In a world where public trust is often lost, Senator Ngwu's consistency in altruism has earned him organic trust and followership. I commend his efforts and urge Ndi Enugu West to appreciate his dedication. He is a leader who is doing well and is so much loved by his people. Anyi ji gi na eme onu (we are proud of you).
