The Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Asadu (Igwe Ogadagidi) has congratulated the state Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah on his appointment as the committee chair to oversee the process of revamping training institutions for the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies nationwide.
The National Economic Council (NEC) had at its 152nd meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday, appointed Governor Mbah as Chairman of the high-powered committee mandated to revamp training institutions for Nigeria’s security agencies.
Speaking with newsmen in Enugu on Friday, the Royal Father congratulated the governor on the national assignment and described the appointment as "the heart of the country’s assignment."
He assured the governor of his unflinching support, prayers and royal blessings, noting that the appointment has "once again put his name on the national and world map."
"This appointment is a testament to Governor Mbah's ingenuity in critical areas of security and national development. I'm optimistic that he will deliver on the assignment.
"I want to reassure him of my Unalloyed support, prayers and royal blessings and he embarks on this very important and critical national assignment," Igwe Asadu said.
The monarch who is also the traditional ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Nsukka LGA of Enugu State, and the immediate past Chairman, Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers, as well as Member, Board of Trustees Council of Traditional Leaders of Africa (Nigeria Chapter) commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for initiating a sweeping overhaul of security training facilities across the country.
He described the initiative as critical to national security and economic development.
"I commend President Tinubu for this noble initiative, as well as for finding Gov Mbah worthy to chair the committee.
"No doubt, the overhauling of security training facilities across the country would boost the nation's fight against insecurity," he said.
Our reporter gathered that Mbah's committee has a one-month period to produce a blueprint for the renovation of training institutions for the Nigeria Police Force and other sister agencies nationwide.
Other members of the committee are; Former Inspector-General of Police, Baba Usman, Secretary, Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Kefas Agbu (Taraba), Umoh Eno (Akwa Ibom), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa) will serve as members.
