The Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty Igwe Samuel Asadu (Igwe Ogadagidi) has condoled with Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State over the death of his younger brother, Umar Mukhtar, who passed away on Monday at the age of 27.
In a condolence message to the governor in Enugu on Friday, the Royal Father expressed sadness over the death of the Governor’s younger brother, saying that his death occurred at the prime age of the deceased after a protracted illness.
"It is quite sad to lose a loved one to the cold hand of death at a prime age of 27. Your Excellency, accept my sincere condolences and empathy over this great loss.
"I'm with you in prayers and spirit. We pray to Allah to forgive the deceased his shortcomings, grant him Jannah and give the Governor and his entire family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
“May Allah continue to give Governor Ahmed Aliyu the strength, wisdom and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and forge ahead with his official activities, believing that your humble brother is resting in the bosom of Allah," the monarch prayed.
Igwe Asadu who is also the traditional ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Nsukka LGA of Enugu State, and the immediate past Chairman, Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers, as well as Member, Board of Trustees Council of Traditional Leaders of Africa (Nigeria Chapter) urged the deceased wife and child to accept the situation as an act of God, and the belief that "Allah gives and takes."
Our reporter gathered that Umar Mukhtar, who passed away on Monday at the age of 27 after a prolonged illness was survived by a wife and a child, and was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
