*Excitement as Uzo Uwani Council Chairman, Ezugwu Begins Drilling of Modern Borehole, Construction of Access Road in Nkume Community.*

There was wild jubilation in Nkume Community, Mbanano development Centre of Uzo Uwani Local government area of Enugu state, as the Executive Chairman of the rural council, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, on Wednesday, 15th of October, 2025, rolled out development projects for the community. 


The projects which include drilling of modern borehole, as well as construction of Access Road to the community was announced by the Council chairman, during a civic reception organized in his honor by the people of Nkume, in celebration of the LG chairman's quality leadership across the rural council.



Barr. Ezugwu, had also, during the occasion, announced immediate elevation of his Executive Assistant, Mr. Kenneth Odenigbo (who hails from the community), to the position of SSA on Media.


He  equally announced the appointments of four more Indigenes of the community into his administration, in order to ensure the community is properly represented in his government. 



The council chairman, was thereafter conferred with the chieftaincy title of Nwanne Di N' Mba 1 of Nkume Ancient Kingdom by Prince Melford Igwe, the crowned Prince of the community, who also doubles as the oldest Ozor title holder in the community, 


Meanwhile, the community had earlier during the occasion, through its political leader, Dr. Josephat Okika, who was former member of the Enugu State House of Assembly and the president General of the community, Mr. Kenneth, lauded the Council chairman's efforts on security and provision of infrastructure across the local council, while assuring that the community will continue to support Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu and Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's administration.



In his reaction, the council chairman who was accompanied on the visit by top members of his cabinet, which include Secretary of the LGA, Barr. Casmir Ademu; his chief of staff, Prince Emeka Oroko and the SPA political, Hon. Ozota Felix, thanked the community for having faith and believing in his administration. 


He assured his administration will continue to lead by example, by continuing to deliver people oriented projects and services across the rural council.


"My avowal is to protect the security of life and property of people of the LGA, and that is why I live in the LGA, to ensure that government is truly closer to the people. 


Other top dignitaries who accompanied the council chairman to the occasion include a former chairman of the PDP in Uzo Uwani LGA, Hon. Jude Ifeanyi Okonkwo; former caretaker chairman of the LGA, Prince Richard Egwuma; immediate past chairman of PDP in the LGA, Hon. Kingsley Ani; SPA on Communication & Strategy to the council chairman, Hon. Solomon Gwiyi; SSA, Hon. Bartholomew Ibe; among others. 



Highpoint of the event was presentation of portrait to the council chairman by the community.

In a related development, the members of Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, who were on facility tour, had earlier yesterday, visited the ENSIEC office at the council Secretariat in Umulokpa, as part of their routine checks on the commission's facilities across Enugu State. 


During the visit, top members of the commission who were received by the Local Government Chairman, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, took their turns to commend the good works and exemplary leadership of Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu's administration across the rural council. 


The commission particularly commended the council Chairman for his efforts in providing security for people of the LGA, especially the farmers, Indigenes and other residents of the LGA. 


Among the team were Dr. Ude Solomon, Commissioner; Chief Barr. Obiora, Commissioner; Barr. Ifesinachi Umeobika, secretary; Barr. Onyeka Chukwuegbo, HOD logistics and supply; Mr. Nnamani Modestus, internal auditor; Mr. Igwesi Nicholas, Director of finance; Hon. Emeka ukwuana, Commissioner; Hon Arthur Ede, Commissioner and Barr. Pauly Eze, Commissioner.
