...Ezugwu Receives Double Chieftaincy Titles
The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has assured the people of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of his administration’s commitment to transform the council and unlock rural economy in the state. .
Speaking during a civic reception in his honour, organized by the people of Nkpologu Ward, Governor Mbah expressed his administration's dedication and commitment to harness the council's agricultural wealth.
Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government, Rural Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deacon Okey Ogbodo, Governor Mbah announced plans to establish a campus of the University of Agriculture in Uzo-Uwani to maximize its agricultural potential.
He emphasized that his vision for Enugu State to become one of the largest exporters of agricultural produce and to increase the state’s GDP from $4.4 billion to $30 billion.
"Uzo-Uwani is so dear to our hearts. We haven't forgotten all you did in the last election and we will not forget to continue recognizing you. Uzo-Uwani is blessed with huge agricultural potential and that is one of the reasons we want to establish a campus of the University of Agriculture here. Our target is for Enugu to be one the biggest exporters of agricultural produce. We have never reneged in any of our promises. We are building the road from Abakpa-Ugwogo-Opi-Nsukka road, and will equally pave the federal road from Ikenga Junction-Nkpologu-Opanda-Adani. All this is because we want to open the rural economy," Mbah said.
During the event, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, Chairman of Uzo-Uwani Local Government, received double chieftaincy titles—Ebube Nkpologu Attah and Adada 1 of Ejona Nkpologu from the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Simeon Idu.
Ezugwu expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah for entrusting him and others with key roles in his administration, assuring that they shall continue to represent the governor in every capacity to ensure that democracy dividends is delivered to the people.
"We thank the Governor, the Messiah of Ndi Uzo-Uwani for the numerous works he is doing and for finding us worthy. In Uzo-Uwani, we are united and we will not forget to reciprocate his kind gesture come 2027. We don't know any party, all we know is Governor Mbah. Wherever he goes, there shall we be," the council boss said.
Former Senator, Chuka Utazi praised Governor Mbah’s achievements, noting that within two years, Mbah had placed Enugu on the global map through his infrastructural development and human capacity improvement initiatives.
Utazi expressed support for Mbah’s administration, emphasizing that the governor’s works speak for themselves and shall earn him continued support from the people of Uzo-Uwani in 2027.
"Irrespective of my party affiliation, I will always say the truth. Within two years Mbah had announced himself. Look at how he placed Enugu on the global map. Today, as an Enugu man wherever you are going you always go with pride, having in mind that you have a performing governor. We have seen his works in the entire Enugu State, including Uzo-Uwani and that is why we will always support him," he said.
Igwe Simeon Idu, the traditional ruler of Nkpologu Ancient Kingdom described the honoured sons as gifts to humanity, saying that they will not disappoint but serve the people selflessly through their respective positions.
Other speakers at the event include, Member representing Uzo-Uwani in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Ekwueme, Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-Industrialization, Mr. Patrick Ubru, Member III, Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Barth Ezugwu, The Peoples Democratic Party LGA Chairman, Kingsley Ani, Fmr Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Matthew Idu, and others.
