The Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, His Royal Majesty Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu (Igwe Ogadagidi), has congratulated Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State on the state's emergence as Nigeria’s fastest-improving state in the 2026 Phillips Consulting State Performance Momentum Index.
Igwe Asadu gave the commendation in Enugu on Monday while speaking with our reporter.
He said that the 2026 Phillips Consulting State Performance Momentum Index ranking, which ranked Enugu as the Fastest-Improving State in the country, is an honest testament of Governor Mbah's magic wand on all sectors of Enugu State's economy.
"Governor Mbah is doing wonders in Enugu State with his magic wand, as all sectors of the state economy under his watch are undergoing rapid transformation.
"The Phillips Consulting State Performance Momentum Index ranking is an honest testament of the good work the governor is doing in the state.
"Governor Mbah is driving an ambitious transformation across Enugu State, targeting education, infrastructure, agriculture and security. That is why the State is experiencing notable economic growth, driven by key factors like increased internally generated revenue and high economic performance rankings
"Mbah's administration's aim to grow the state's economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion is now a visible target to achieve," he said.
The monarch, who is the immediate past Chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers Council, and the traditional ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Nsukka LGA, urged the people of Enugu to continue praying for and supporting Governor Mbah’s administration for the benefit of all citizens.
"What we need to do is to continue to give the governor and his working team our blessings and total support to continue to drive the state to the next level.
"The Governor is a God-sent, who knows what good governance is all about, and he is delivering democracy dividend to the people in grand style," he said.
Phillips Consulting State Performance Momentum Index last week's report indicates that Enugu’s emergence as the national leader reflected deliberate governance, strong fiscal discipline, and sustained implementation of reforms,
The report noted that Enugu recorded the highest Momentum Index score, supported by substantial growth in internally generated revenue through revenue administration reforms.
According to the report, the state now earns more than twice its federal allocation alongside notable investments in water infrastructure and sustained capital spending.
