An Enugu state Born Businessman, High Chief Michael Ayogu, Popularly known as 'Bishop' on Sunday, 9th of April, 2024, dolled out nine million naira (9, 000, 000), to nine youths of Nrobo Community in Uzo Uwani LGA of Enugu state, as part of his efforts to empower the youths.
The youths who were honored at the general meeting of Nrobo Town Union, were between the ages of 18 and 40 years and were selected to represent each of their villages.
Presenting the money at a ceremony held at Nrobo Town Hall, wife of Chief Michael Ayogu, Mrs. Ayogu Faith Chinonso, Lolo Osodiemeaku 1 of Nrobo, said the objective of the gesture was to also make the beneficiaries to be self-reliant.
She said it was a take-off capital for small-scale businesses, toward alleviating the current economic hardship in the country.
While still holding the floor, about three of the Beneficiaries who were present at the occasion, confirmed receiving One million naira each from the donor, while others were told to quickly open account numbers with any bank of their choices, in order to receive their own funds.
Names of the beneficiaries of the empowerment program include (1) AYOGU SUNDAY from OFUM VILLAGE, (2)AJIBO WILLIAMS from OWA VILLAGE, (3)UGWU IKECHUKWU from UMUDIESUE VILLAGE, (4)UGWOKE KINGSLEY from AJAYIGO VILLAGE, (5)OBETA CHRISTOPHER from UMUOYO VILLAGE, (6)UGWU GODWIN from OKPARA VILLAGE, (7)OGBOBE ANTHONY from UGOR VILLAGE, (8)AJIBO JONATHAN from UMUAMUNA VILLAGE and (9)AMOGE HYACINTH from UMUIYA VILLAGE.
Those who witnessed the event include HRH igwe J. I. Ugwu of Nrobo kingdom, PG: Ogbuefi Dangold ugwu and his CTC members, Hon. Engr. Oriji Joe, Dr. T.C. Ugwoke, Hon. Linus Nnadi, Barr. M. I. Nwabueze, Hon. Joseph Ugwudiosha, Rev. Fr. m. Ozioko, Chief Reuben okoro, Chief Emma Omenma (Chairman NPU onitsha) and Apostle Mike Ogbobe, JP on behalf of the Development/humanitarian committee Nrobo.
Earlier before the event, the caretaker committee chairman of Nrobo Town Union, Ogbuefi Dangold ugwu, had showered praises on chief Ayogu Michael for lifting about 9 youths of the community out of poverty.
He however, charged other successful sons and daughter of the community to emulate the lifestyle of High Chief Michael Ayogu, for the growth and development of the community.
"We call on other millionaires from our community to emulate this kind and benevolent gesture of our son, Bishop", he said.
Recall that in December 2023, Chief Michael Ayogu, had procured and installed Over 50 Solar powered lights across the nine villages of Nrobo Community, as well as distributed over 220 bags of rice to the villages of the community as palliatives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He had also started Building a brand new secondary school at Hiltop in the community, with over 3000 blocks already on ground, just as he has also Severally graded the Nrobo roads in order to create access roads to the community.
In response to the above gesture, the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Igwe J. I. Ugwu of Nrobo kingdom, during the general meeting conferred yet another honor of "Oku na enye ife 1 of Nrobo on the High Chief.
Recall that the international businessman had last year, bagged a chieftaincy title of "Eze Kwu Eche 1 Nke Ndigbo Na Ghana."
The chieftaincy title was conferred on Chief Ayogu by the Eze Ndigbo Na Ghana (Eze-igbo Ghana), HRM. Eze Amb. Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu.
Enugupress.ng reports that High Chief Ayogu, had in the past few years, in recognition of his numerous humanitarian gestures, been conferred with the chieftaincy title of "Akudinanwa Na Nrobo," among others.
High point of the event was presentation of cow-gift to chief Michael Ayogu, by the caretaker PG of the community, Ogbuefi Dangold Ugwu and his team, on behalf of Nrobo Community.
