The CWO President of Nsukka Diocese & Provost, Enugu State College of Education Technical), Dr. Mrs. Stella Ekwueme has been conferred with Life Membership and Ambassador of Mary Award by the Catholic Women Organization (CWO), Enugu Diocese.
Enugupress.ng reports that the award was conferred on the provost by the Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo during the 2025 Life Membership Initiation and Ambassador of Mary Awards, held on the 5th of July, 2025 by the Enugu Catholic diocese.
Speaking while presenting the award, the Auxiliary Bishop said: "You are conferred with this award not because of what you have but because you have shown virtue."
Other prominent women who were recognized alongside Dr. Mrs. Ekwueme included: Hon. Dame Rita Mba (Chairman, Enugu Board of Tourism & BoT Member PDP), Hon. Jane Eneh (Deputy Leader, Enugu State House of Assembly & Member Representing Awgu North Constituency), Dr. Mrs. Nnenna Uzor (Accountant with the Accountant-General of the Federation), former Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Cecilia Ezeilo; former National President of CWO, Barr. Mrs. Nwanneka Okolo; Immediate Past Enugu Diocesan CWO President, Prof. Bene Okoli; Lọlọ Chief Lady Rose Udeh, Lady Ernestina Anyanwu Nwankwu, Barr. Stella Onu, etc
The event saw over 400 women drawn from the six deaneries of the diocese inducted into CWO Life Membership and decorated with the prestigious Ambassador of Mary Award.
Hon. Ibenaku Onoh (Chairman, Enugu North LGA); and Hon. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu (former Leader of ENSHA), were among those who graced the event.
The Diocesan CWO President, Mrs. Juliet Ani thanked all who were present during the occasion.
The climax of the ceremony was moments of thanksgiving and lively receptions within the cathedral compound and across various parishes and deaneries.
