In further commitment to resolving boundary disputes at the grassroot, the Enugu State Government through the office of the Deputy Governor and the state boundary committee, on Thursday,19th June, 2025, inaugurated the Uzo-uwani Local Government Boundary Committee at the Council secretariat in Umulokpa. This event marks a significant move in the government's ongoing efforts to promote peaceful co-existence and prevent-related conflicts at the grassroots level.
The Deputy Governor of Enugu state and Chairman of the Enugu State Boundary Committee,His Excellency, Barr.Ifeanyi Ossai, was represented at the event by Barr. Solomon Ejim, Executive Secretary, Enugu State Boundary Committee, office of the Deputy Governor.
Speaking on behalf of the deputy Governor during the inauguration, Barr.Ejim Commended the visionary leadership of the Governor of Enugu State,His Excellency,Dr.Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for prioritising peace and stability across the state. He noted that the establishment of Local Government Boundary Committees, mandated by the same legislation that established the National and state Boundary Commissions, is a vital component of the state's peace and development strategy. He charged the committee to adopt strategic and lasting approaches to ensure proper demarcation of boundaries in all towns and villages. He further emphasized the importance of proactive boundary management to prevent disputes from escalating into major communal crises.
The Deputy Governor's representative further urged the committee members to approach their duties with integrity, fairness, and respect for human dignity.
The Uzo-uwani LG Boundary Committee,chaired by the Vice chairman of the LGA,Lady Mrs.Vera Ezeugwu, comprises the following members:

In her vote of thanks, the Deputy chairman, Lady Mrs.Vera Ezeugwu, expressed deep appreciation to Gov.Mbah for his commitment to peace, security and good governance in Enugu state.She described his administration as people -centred, especially in its emphasis on proactive conflict resolution.
She also extended heartfelt gratitude to the Executive chairman of Uzo-uwani Local Government Area and Deputy Chairman of Enugu North economic block,Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu, for his continued support for local initiatives, and his commitment to peace and security across the local government.
The event concluded with the official inauguration of the boundary committee,as members pledged to work in collaboration with all relevant stakeholders.
