Yuletide: Dr. Martins Oke Distributes 3000 bags of rice to Constituents.

 

Member Representing Uzo Uwani/Igboetiti Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, Dr. Martins Oke, on 21st of December, 2024,  distributed over 3000 bags of rice to his constituents as part of efforts to ensure a joyous Christmas and New Year celebration for families and other residents of the constituency alike.

The gesture which was aimed at alleviating the burden of rising costs of food items during the festive period, was held at the Lawmaker's Countryhome at Aku, Igboetiti Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The items distributed include 2,500 bags of 25KG of rice and 50 bags of 50KG of rice. 

Those who were on hand to receive the Christmas items form the Lawmaker across the 36 Council wards of the federal constituency include councilors, presidents-General of all the communities, the clergy, traditional rulers, among others. 

Speaking during the occasion, the Lawmaker explained that the gesture was borne-out of his desire to make Christmas memorable for the people of the constituency.

Enugupress.ng reports that the Lawmaker had also, during the exercise, stated that the gesture was carried-out in partnership with project development institute (PRODA). 

"I had approached the federal government and facilitated the delivery of these bags of rice, in order to reduce hunger and insecurity.

"I am the facilitator of the project as you can see. But This was done in partnership with proda.

"I want to urge the Councilors here to take these items to their traditional rulers and  share to everyone captured in the program for a joyous Christmas celebration.

 Meanwhile, representatives of PRODA who were at Aku to observe the distribution of the items were Mrs. Njideka nnaji, assistant chief accountant and Mrs. Ezeoba Eucharia, administrator 2 of the agency.
