The Senator representing Enugu North Senatorial District, Senator Okey Ezea, has approved the appointment of a former Igboetiti LG Chairman, Nnawike Nwodo as chief Liaison Officer.
The former Council chairman, was appointed alongside 45 new aides from the six local government areas that make up his senatorial district.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Senior Special Adviser (Media), Aniebo Nwamu.
According to the statement, the LP 'senator enjoined his new aides to constantly monitor activities in the district, identify the felt needs of the people, and advise him accordingly.'
"We must justify the change our people voted for," said Senator Ezea, adding: "By assisting me in the task of feeling our people's pulses and suggesting ways we could attract democracy benefits to them, the new aides would be serving as partners in the struggle for a new Enugu North;" it further read.
The positions of the aides range from special assistants on Women affairs, Administration, Digital Media, public communications, Social Media, inter District communications, among others.
The list excludes five statutory aides which is provided by the Act of the National Assembly.
The national assembly Act provides that each lawmaker is entitled to five aides, one senior legislative aide, two legislative aides, a personal assistant, and a secretary.
It is, however, not clear how much Ezea intends to pay the new aides as only five of them would be captured by the national assembly budget.
