JUST IN: Uzo Uwan Councili Boss Presents Prohibition of Open Defecation Bill to Lawmakers


 

...Seeks Legislators Assent to Revenue Generation and E-ticketing Bill


The Executive chairman of Uzo Uwani local government area, Hon. Chukwudi Celestine Nnadozie, on 24th November, 2023, presented a bill on the prohibition of open defecation and other related offences to the local government councilors.

The bill which was presented to the parliamentarians at the legislative chamber in Umulokpa, if passed into law by the lawmakers, will seek to prevent environmental hazards, regulate excreta disposal, promote usage of toilets by families and members of the public within the council area, as well as strengthen and sustain Uzo Uwani local government open defecation free (ODF) Status. 

Hon. Nnadozie also presented a second bill on revenue generation and E-ticketing to the lawmakers, as well as sought the Legislators' adoption of his proposal for the payment of Bursary to about 251 undergraduates across five tertiary institutions such as University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), University of Nigeria,  Enugu Campus (UNEC), Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUTEC), Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), and Federal college of Education, Eha-mufu. 

The Bills were separately read by the leader of the legislative chamber, Hon. Philip Okoro and they were variously discussed by the parliamentarians. 

The bills were however,  put on voice votes, and were adopted by the lawmakers.

Earlier before then, the first motion was moved by the deputy leader of the legislative House, Hon. Christopher Nwajiani of Igga/Asaba Ward and was seconded by the deputy majority leader, Hon. Agada Patrick of Ugbene Ward 2; the second motion was moved by Hon. Joachim Okafor of Ukpata Ward and was seconded by Hon. Patrick Ejike Ekowa of Abbi ward.

Meanwhile, the motion for the adoption of the Council chairman's proposal to give bursary to about 251 undergraduates of tertiary institutions from the local council, was moved by Hon. Nnamdi Maxwell Okoro from Uvuru Ward and was seconded by Hon. Geoffrey Ugwu from Nrobo.

The bills would be signed into law in the coming days.

Those who accompanied the council chairman to the event include the secretary of the LGA, Hon. Anikezie Michael; supervisors of Health, Finance, agriculture and education, Dr. Ebuka Okafor, Hon. Nonyelu Clifford, Hon. Aluma Chika, Hon. Charles Okoye and SPA on special duties, Hon. Ifeanyi Utazi.
