The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna State Chapter, says it is mourning the death of over 28 innocent defenceless people of the Mallagum community in the Kagoro area in Kaura Local Government Area who were brutally slaughtered on Sunday night.
Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the state chairman of CAN, in a personal statement issued on Monday, said: “This massacre has further proven that the killers of the Southern Kaduna people have not yet been neutralized as claimed.”
He called on the federal government and the security agencies they must not let the killers escape, saying that those who committed the deadly act must be fished out, arrested, and brought to justice no matter who is involved.
He said: “These renewed killings may be a strategy to scare the people from exercising their rights and to further increase fear and impoverish them.”
Accordingly, CAN condemned what it called “this barbaric act” in the strongest terms and appealed for calm among the affected communities and the entire people of Southern Kaduna to allow the government and security personnel to do the needful.
He also called on the government and security to as a matter of urgency rise to the duty of protecting lives and property to allow Nigerians to go about looking for their daily bread without hindrance in these hard times.
