National Rescue Movement (NRM), in Abia state, held opposite Ehimiri Police station, Umudike road, Umuahia, the Abia state capital.
Following the withdrawal of his opponent, Barr. Lechi, the party resolved to continue with the voting and Ijioma secured 230 out of the 234 votes cast by the delegates from the 17 local government areas of the state.
He was declared winner and flag bearer of the party by the Electoral Committee Chairman, Chief Iro Atunmere, who also doubles as the Party’s South East financial Secretary.
Speaking after receiving the party’s flag from Kenry Ibekwe, the state chairman of the party, Dr Ijioma says it is time to reposition Abia for a greater tomorrow.
The pragmatic, eloquent and articulate technocrat promised not to let the party down, insisting that it is time to end bad governance in Abia and give the people the true leadership they yearn for.
He called on Abians and residents of the state to support NRM as it is the party that has come to rescue Abia from the clutches of backwardness and with him when elected come 2023, the narrative of the state will change for the best.
The exercise was peacefully conducted under the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
