The Chairman of the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu (Igwe Ogadagidi), has congratulated the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on the successful celebration of the 2026 Olojo Festival.
Igwe Asadu, in a congratulatory message, described the Olojo Festival as a significant cultural and spiritual celebration that continues to promote the rich heritage, history and traditional values of the Yoruba people and Nigeria at large.
He commended the Ooni for his commitment to preserving Nigeria's cultural heritage and using the annual festival to promote unity, peaceful coexistence, tourism and cultural diplomacy.
Igwe Asadu who is the immediate past Chairman of the South East Traditional Ruler Council, and the Traditional Ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State also lauded traditional rulers, government officials, cultural organisations, community leaders and other stakeholders who contributed to the success of the 2026 edition of the festival.
According to him, "The Olojo Festival has grown beyond a traditional celebration to become an important platform for cultural renaissance, inter-community relations and the promotion of Nigeria's diverse heritage."
The Royal Father prayed for continued wisdom, good health and longevity for the Ooni, while wishing the monarch and the people of Ile-Ife continued peace, progress and prosperity.
He urged Nigerians, particularly the younger generation, to take greater interest in the country's cultural heritage and support traditional institutions in preserving the values and traditions handed down by their forebears.
The monarch further expressed optimism that the Olojo Festival would continue to attract greater national and international recognition and contribute to the development of cultural tourism in Nigeria.
