The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Enugu State Chapter, has suspended its state Chairman, Comr. Ebuka Okoh, over alleged financial misconduct and misappropriation of funds totally 15 million naira
The decision was announced in a statement by the State Secretary General NYCN Enugu State Chapter and the State Ass. P.R.O, Comrade Johnson Ossai and Comr. Utazi Blessing.
The now trending statement on social media, also claims to have copied the Enugu state government and other relevant agencies such as the Enugu State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Commissioner for Police Enugu State, Director DSS Enugu State, SA to the Governor on Youth and Student Affairs, ALGON CHAIRMAN, ICPC and the EFCC.
The youth body according to a copy of the letter sighted by Enugupress.ng indicates that the embattled state Chairman had in addition to the alleged fraud, contravened the laws governing the council which makes it mandatory for him to call for state Excos meeting, at least every two months.
Excerpts from the letter reads: "The State Executive Council (SEC) of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Enugu State Chapter, convened a meeting on *Monday, September 1, 2025*, at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Enugu.
"During the meeting, the Council received and reviewed the audit report presented by the Internal Auditor, *Comrade Chidera Okoye,* on the financial records of the Council. The audit revealed that *Comrade Ebuka Bartholomew Okoh,* the Chairman of NYCN Enugu State Chapter, had been *embezzling and mismanaging funds* allocated to the Council
"Comrade Ebuka Okoh has ran the affairs of National Youth Council of Nigeria Enugu State as a sole administrator ;The Constitution in Article 10.9B Function (vii) states that 'the State Executive Council shall meet at least once every two months, but the last time the Chairman formally summoned a State Executive Council Meeting was The last meeting NYCN Enugu chapter had before today's meeting was on first day of May 2024 (01/05/2024).
"Comrade Ebuka Okoh has never summoned a State Management meeting or meeting of voluntary Youth Organization as classified in Article 10.12 No i,No ii,
"No iii and No iv of the Constitution as stated : since the State Executive Council was sworn on the 21th day of November 2023.
"The funds in question that was embezzled by the Chairman totaled *over ₦15million Naira*
"Comrade Bartholomew Ebuka Okoh since the advent of this administration has succeeded in misleading not just the State Executive Council members of NYCN Enugu Chapter, but the entire youths of Enugu State by denying any form of support from State Government, Local Government, or individuals.He however claims to run the affairs of NYCN Enugu with his personal resources.
"After thorough investigation and submission of the financial report of the council, the State Executive Council (SEC), through a properly constituted sitting, *resolved to suspend Comrade Ebuka Bartholomew Okoh indefinitely from his position as Chairman of NYCN Enugu State Chapter as a vote of no confidence was passed in him. This decision was ratified by 14 out of 16 SEC members* present at the meeting."
When contacted, one of the state Excos of the youth body who spoke to Enugupress.ng on the condition of unanimity stated that an Official Communique will be out before the end of today from the state youth council Publicity secretary.
He however, stated that the SEC was still consulting and investigating the claims as at the time of filing the report.
