The Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu state Chapter, has congratulated His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah on his victory at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on Thursday.
Enugupress.ng reports that ALGON described the ruling in governor Mbah's favour as “another well-deserved victory.”
In a statement issued on Thursday by the chairman of the Association, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Edeh, the group said Enugu people had spoken through the ballots and the court has now validated the citizens’ decision by the judgement.
The association said Enugu People had freely given their mandate to the governor during the 2023 general Elections, to steer the ship of the state, by leading a charge that would being about 'the much desired disruptive innovation of the Governor for four uninterrupted years.'
He said, “Today is another day for celebration by the lovers of our dear state. What we are celebrating is beauty of democracy and the rule of law. We had an election in March this year, where the people of the state handed a mandate to their preferred candidate
"And today, the court has validated the same.
“On behalf of ALGON, I congratulate the Governor of our dear state, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah on his well-deserved victory at the Governorship Election Tribunal Court.
“I also congratulate the leadership and members of our great party, the People's Democratic Party, and all Enugu people at home and in the Diaspora on this very landmark judicial victory.”
It is now expected that the detractors will allow the Governor concentrate in delivering the real dividends of democracy to all Enugu People as this judicial verdict is a victory for democracy and the rule of law.
