Minority Whip of the Enugu state House of Assembly and member representing Uzo Uwani state Constituency, Hon. Chukwuma Martins Ekwueme, has initiated a scholarship scheme for students in his constituency.
The scholarship award is designed to 'help parents and guardians in paying school fees for their wards in both primary and secondary schools in the state Constituency, as well as help the beneficiaries achieve their goals of academic Excellence.
Enugupress.ng reports that Hon. Ekwueme who is also, House Committee Chairman on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption targets about 160 pupils and students from the 16 Council wards in Uzo Uwani local government Area, with 10 persons drawn from each political ward of the constituency.
The scholarship scheme is however, open to eligible primary and secondary school pupils and students of any public school in Uzo Uwani LGA.
A statement by the Lawmaker through his personal Assistant, Engr. Joseph Idu reads: "Our House of Assembly member, the amiable Hon. Chukwuma M.I. Ekwueme who is the Minority whip of ENHA and also the House Committee Chairman on Public Account and Anti-corruption has announced a Student Bursary for 160 pupils and students from the 16 wards in Uzo Uwani local government Area. In that note it will be 10 persons per ward across the 16 council wards in Uzouwani LG.
"This initiative is to help parents and guardians in paying school fees for the pupils and wards in the primary and secondary schools in the Government Area.
"The bursary will be given on the basis of first come, first serve. There will be no sentiments or preferential treatment of any kind. What is needed is send the name of your child and school to the dedicated persons and phone numbers."
