Concerned members of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abịa State, have accused the Senator representing Abịa North, Senator Orji-Uzor Kalu, of campaigning against the party gubernatorial candidate, High Chief Ikechi Emenike.
The group, in a statement signed by Chief Iheomamere Eleweke, alleged that Uzor Kalu had even boasted on a national television that he would rather support the flag bearer of All People's Party (APP).
The statement read thus;
"The All Progressive Congress in Abia State is currently in a state of turmoil as the Senator Representing Abia North State Constituency, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu has become reluctant in the activities of the party rather he is seen to sabotage their efforts following his brothers candidacy for Governorship of the State under a new party Action People’s Party which was founded in 2022.
"A constituent of Abia North who wishes to be anonymous told Journalists in Abia, that the Senator who is in the race as one of the candidates for the position of Senate President has been campaigning for his brother to win the gubernatorial election set to hold on the 18th of March 2023.
"Recall that the Senator during an interview on Channels TV said that the Abia APC Gubernatorial Candidate is yet to inform him of his bid to contest hence he will not be supporting him as he was not informed. He also said his brother is a capable hand who Abians should vote if they want.
"Sen. Kalu has been on the sidelines of APP and APC, setting Abian and Nigerians in a state of confusion as to where his loyalty truly lies as it seems very unclear at the moment. One may wonder if such a person should be the Senate President of the nation representing a party he could not deliver in his date. It is recalled that the Senate President scored 30,000 votes while the President scored 8,000 votes in the National. Assembly elections which were here on the same day.
"The Gubernatorial Candidate of Abia State, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, in all of these has remained in high spirits that the All Progressive Congress will take over leadership of the state come the 18th of March 2023."
