The Akiyi Independent Electoral Commission has declared Engr. Malachi Chukwuebuka Anikwe, as the president-General elect of the Akiyi Umulokpa Autonomous community.
Engr. Malachi, who is managing Director of D-Pikkano Engineering services, was declared president-General-elect of the community, after polling 124 votes to win the 2024 PG contest in the community.
The AIEC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Nnakwo (PhD), announced Malachi as the winner of the exercise at central School Akiyi Umulokpa, venue of the election, on Saturday, 30th of November, 2024.
Engr. Malachi won the election unopposed, following the withdrawal of his supposed fierce rival, Hon. Celestine Ikechukwu Chienyine, who after careful consultations with top stakeholders from the community, pulled out of the race.
Others who were elected alongside the President General include: Chisom Ekwedigwe, Vice Chairman; Ejimnkonye Jeremiah, Secretary General; Nweke Sunday, Assistant Secretary; Chinonso Igwenagu, Financial Secretary; Emeka Ejimofor, Treasurer; Chukwudi Igbonekwu, Publicity Secretary and Tochukwu Nzekwesi, Provost.
Others include Mr. Charles Chiamogu, Internal Auditor and Barr. Sylvester Udemezue, legal Adviser.
However, a delegation from the State Ministry of Rural Development, led by the Director of the Ministry, Mrs. Queendaline, was among those who were present to observe the exercise.
Others were a team of security agents, led by the Army Commander in the LGA, Captain, Olukpoju; DPO Umulokpa Division, a team of security agents from the State CID and members of Umulokpa Neighborhood Watch.
Some of the Stakeholders who spoke during the exercise were former President General of the community, Dr. Barth Nwankwo; Immediate past caretaker committee chairman of the community, Chief Simeon madukaife; head of Nkwelle village and Chairman of All Stars, Chief Uchenna ODenigbo; chief Ferdinand Alozor, among other.
Meanwhile the election was adjudged free, fair and credible.
